SVREP REGISTERS OVER 14,000 VOTERS  
Texas Rising Campaign targets young Latinos for the March 2 primary

 
February 8, 2010. San Antonio, Texas.  Texas Rising, a Texas-wide nonpartisan campaign for Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (SVREP), will focus on increasing the participation of Latino electoral in the 2010 elections, has registered 14,494 new Latino voters in less then 4 weeks for the upcoming Texas March Primary Elections.  

The nonpartisan effort was kicked off on January 2 to February 1, 2010 with a community based project structure in twelve counties in Texas. SVREP registered voters in Bexar, Cameron, Denton, Dallas, El Paso, Harris, Hidalgo, Medina, Nueces, Travis, and Tarrant and Williamson counties. 

 

SVREP plans to continue the momentum with its ambitious voter registration, voter education and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) campaigns for the 2010 election season, starting with this voter registration effort we just completed.  SVREP will continue to raise the monies necessary to increase the number of Latinos taking part in the 2010 Texas elections. Our goal is to increase the number of Latino voters who are registered to vote and turnout to vote in the primary, general and special election anticipated for this May.
