"Celebrating 36 years of service "
SVREP is proud to present this one of a kind culinary experience celebrating the best of distinct cuisines of Latin American inspiration including contemporary Caribbean, South American, Central American, Brazilian, Southern Mexican, popular Salvadoran, Yucatan, and much more.
This year’s “Sabor” consists of a competition among fifty-one Latino-themed restaurants from the greater Los Angeles area that were nominated by SVREP’s supporters and the public online during January 1, 2010 -- May 24, 2010.
During this period SVREP’s supporters and the public have been visiting the nominated restaurants to taste and score the cuisine. These scores will be tallied on June 4, 2010 and the top winner in each cuisine will be announced forthwith.
The top ten winners from each category will be invited to participate in a cook-off reception on June 25, 2010, at a facility to be determined at from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. SVREP leaders will judge the cuisine and pick the top two restaurants to go on to the finals.
The two finalists will face last year’s winner Home Girl Café on July 16, 2010, at Union Station from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The finalists will serve a “tasting” menu to 300 guests. The three will be judged by a distinguished panel of judges consisting of prominent Angelinos. Proceeds of the benefit will go SVREP’s nonpartisan, nonprofit programs.
