To All Foodies and Politicos: Let the Sabor de las Americas Contest Begin

"SABOR" CELEBRATES FIFTH YEAR - Reserve your tickets now

SVREP is proud to continue this one of a kind culinary experience celebrating the best of distinct cuisines of Latin American inspiration. Sabor de las Americas/Taste of the Americas is a competition among Latino-themed restaurants from the greater Los Angeles area.

NOMINATIONS

SVREP's supporters and the public will nominate restaurants as well as visit them and score the cuisine. SVREP is sponsoring a series of no-host promotional activities where the public will taste and score cuisine at selected nominated restaurants during March and April

The public is urged to submit their scores online until May 1, 2013, after which the top ten will be selected based on the scoring.

JUDGING THE SEMIFINALISTS

On Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) the eight "Sabor" semifinalists were selected by their patrons and SVREP's foodies. Through May and June the "Sabor semifinalists" will be featured in a series of broadcast cooking segment that will encourage the public to select their favorite cuisine/restaurant/chef. They will be visited by SVREP mystery judges as well.

Premio Cua Winner to be Chosen at Sabor Finales on July 12!

Chefs' extraordinaire from Juan’s Restaurant in Baldwin Park, Zumaya’s Mexican Café in Whittier, and El Rocoto in Gardena were chosen on July 1 from the 8 competing semifinalists, and will cook-off at SVREP’s Sabor de las Americas annual benefit on July 12, 2013 at the Los Angeles River Center from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The three finalists will provide fine cuisine consisting of a 12 course tasting menu to 250 SVREP donors/supporters and be judged by a distinguished group of aficionados.

The winner will receive the "El Premio Cua" trophy (Nahuatl and Spanish for Cook's Award) for 2012, $2,500, and SVREP’s catering for a year. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will receive $1000 and $500 respectively. Recipes from all finalists will be included is SVREP’s upcoming Sabor de las Americas Cookbook.
